Municipal corporation
After the 2007 municipal elections, four political formations have representatives in Carballo:
- Bloque Nacionalista Galego, BNG (9)
- Partido Popular, PP (6)
- Terra Galega, TEGA (3)
- Partido Socialista Obrero Español, PSOE (3)
THE MAYOR
The municipality of Carballo is located in the northern part of Galicia. It is the capital of the county of Bergantiños and it is at the privileged crossroads between two of the most important cities in the region: A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. Carballo has a surface of 187 square kilometres and thus ranks amongst the largest and most widely populated municipalities in the province.The river Anllóns runs through the municipality and leaves its imprint in a landscape of unmatched beauty with examples such as the waterfall of Entrecruces. On its banks several recreational areas and urban parks have been developed, such as the ones in Anllóns or San Martiño.
Moving towards the coast, the Natural Space of Razo - Baldaio stands out for its beauty. It includes a lagoon, marshes, reed beds and two Blue Flag beaches and thus becomes a must for nature lovers.
